Fancying an upholstered headboard for comfortable style & to fuse my mix-and-match bedroom furniture, I began surveying the headboard assortments of some of my favorite contemporary retailers. The shopping process ended abruptly when I realized there was a huge discrepancy between my taste level and budget. Now, I am a firm believer of an occasional "because you deserve it" splurge - problem was I was way over my splurge ration for the year! With that realization my do it yourself project began!
I scored this headboard off Craigslist for $10 (pictured below). The arch silhouette was exactly what I was looking for to add a bit of drama to my bedroom aesthetic. I then padded the face of the headboard frame with 3 inch foam, cutting the foam in the shape of the headboard using a razor. Next, I wrapped the foam with batting (front to back), pulled the batting taut, and stapled the batting to the backside of the headboard. Finally, I draped the headboard from front to back side with my fabric (aka curtain purchased from Target's Threshold line for approximately $15), and stapled the curtain in place.
